Conference on Rural India 2019: Towards Inclusion of the Marginalized

VAF organized its second annual conference “Rural India: Towards inclusion of the marginalized” on 7th – 9th November 2019, in Pune. The conference aims to bring together researchers, policymakers, representatives of the civil society and media to discuss the important yet unattended issues facing the development sector.

Conference Themes

Scaling up of Sustainable Agriculture

Many civil society organisations as well as state have been promoting sustainable agriculture and the use of organic inputs through different schemes and programmes. This research theme aims to identify the challenges affecting the spread of sustainable farming practices and to characterise promising interventions for scaling up of sustainable farming practices.

Commons Property Resources and Rural Livelihoods

Common Property Resources (CPR) play a crucial role in the rural economy. The focus of the theme is to explore the linkages between CPR and livelihoods in the context of changing rural landscape along with the factors affecting the dependence of rural people on CPR. This session aims to discuss the relevance of CPRs in the current context with the experience derived from multi-location studies.
